Years ago the Church was not only known for It's spititual music, praise and worship service, or fellowship, but it was always known as the pillar of the community.
But many churches today are known as the bussiness of the community.
To many churches have become big bussiness in a sense, and some have even forgotten about the spiritual mission of helping to meet the needs of the people, and Salvation.
We see in the inner city a church on every corner, and sometimes two or three churches on the same block, and you still see and hear of all the crime, and violence in that community.
We all can remember when you actually could reach a pastor of a church on the phone, but now with all this new technology, all you can reach is his answering machine, and you may never get a call back.
When are we going to stand up against all injustice, the church has always played a great role in the movement back in the day, and they were very instrumental in the progress, and advancement of our people.
Many of the organizing meetings took place in the basement of the church the community respected the church, and the church invested in the community, but today it's a different story.
Many do not see the church taking an active roll or stance in the community their membership is down, and many of the members they do have do not live in the neighborhood that the church is housed in, even the Mega Churches are begining to see it's membership dwindle.
We have to go back to Basics Serve God, Love God, and Do God's Work

When doing Spiritual Outreach sometimes it may mean organizing a Prayer Vigil, and Rally for a family member who was killed in the community.
Being a outreach minister I clearly understand the calling that the Lord has Blessed me with, and that is supporting families, praying for, and with families, and being their with them, and the community in a time of need, bring Spirituality to the situation.[/img] _________________ T.Ellis |

Marching is a part of our mission, and it can also give you Spiritual strengh, but you have to be marching in, and with the spirit, and marching for a worthy cause.
It takes alot of courage to stand up and march for a cause that is not so popular, and marching against Guns and Violence is one of them causes.
Because of our stance on the issue there are not alot of churches that will stand with us and the community, march with the community or even want to get involved until it hit's their church or membership.
I believe that if Jesus was living in our community today and there was all this shooting, killing, robbing, rape, crime and violence he would be out on the street praying for the victims, and he would be outraged about the situation, and he would be doing something about it, marching, organizing, protesting, bring comfort, peace, strength and even comming up with preventive measures to help to heal the people and community.
I do not believe that he would stay in the comfortability of the church building everyday, and not go to the streets to make a difference, and that's part of the problem in the community we need more churches, preachers, congregations, members, deacons, choirs, and alike going into the hood and reaching out to the people.
But many say that they are scared (FEAR)
so therefore alot is not done by the masses of the people in the community, and we miss that great opportunity to create a spiritual change in many of the hearts and minds of the people.
Thank God for those who will stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselfs, and Thank God for Men of Courage.[/img] _________________ T.Ellis |
